Born in Ghana, but raised in Ladbroke Grove, London, Edward Enninful has recently been confirmed as the new editor-in-chief of British Vogue, adding to his already astounding fashion resumé which includes being the youngest ever Fashion Director for an International Publication at i-D Magazine and a tenure as Fashion and Style-Director at W magazine.
An OBE recipient for Services To Diversity In The Fashion Industry, Enninful is a true visionary, who has always featured Black and African models in his works and has advocated the advancement of many Brown and Black women’s careers within Fashion through his consistent use of them within his publications.
In an IG post, Enninful said: ” I grew up reading British Vogue – I am so honoured and humbled to be taking up the mantle of editor.”
Representation is everything. And now, an African is Editor of British Vogue. Hopefully, soon we will see more African creatives breakthrough to mainstream media. Ghana and African should be proud of Edward Enninful.
