
Sustainable Development Solutions Network for the United Nations has compiled a World Happiness Report based on 6 factors; GDP per capita, social support, healthy life expectancy, freedom to make life choices, generosity and perceptions of corruption.
Here are the top 10 happiest countries in Africa.
1. Algeria
The biggest role Algeria’s ranking was GDP per capita followed by social support.
2. Mauritius
GDP per capita also played a big role in the ranking.
3. Libya
GDP per capita is almost equal to social support in Libya.
4. Somalia
Compared to other African countries on the list Somalia did not score high on GDP per capita but the main reason for the happiness in Somalia is based on social support and the freedom to make life choices.
5. Morocco
GDP per capita was the main reason for Morocco’s ranking.
6. Tunisia
GDP per capita playing a big role here too.
7. Nigeria
GDP per capita scored big in Nigeria followed by social support
8. Zambia
Social support played the biggest role in Zambia followed closely by GDP per capita
9. Cameroon
Social support was the first reason this for Cameroon ranking followed by GDP per capita
10. Ethiopia
Social support and a healthy life expectancy were the most important reasons for Ethiopia to be ranked at 10th happiest country in Africa.
