After coming 3rd on Idols Brandon Dhludhlu’s Uhambe Short Story is one about assuring his girl that he has no intention of letting her go. He expresses how different he is from her ex who let her go. So she needs to get about him and anyone else who doubts their Love. I am telling you guys, South Africans are the best at love songs!
What made you apply idols?
I’ve always wanted to be part of the show. I grew up watching it and I guess I’ve just always wanted to be in TV.
How did you prepare for your audition and what advice would you give for someone who wants to apply?
What I did to prepare was just watching previous contestants and trying to imitate a couple of artists but most importantly just being myself and listening to a lot of music. If you wanna try out, just do it! We had people doubting us but we did it anyway and now look at us! Don’t let people creep into your heart. Go get that million.
How was the experience for you, any favourite memories?
The experience was amazing I’m not going to lie. I want to audition again but I can’t. I made a lot of friends too, the entire experience was just beautiful.
What was the inspo behind your single uhambe?
I get a lot of people saying I wrote the song for someone which I didn’t. This song was written for me, by me. It’s just a beautiful song, it’s a vibe. I relate to it and I know a lot of guys relate to it too and now that it’s summer I know a lot of people can vibe to it because people fall in love during this time. It’s a jam.
What are your 3 biggest achievements so far?
First one has to be making it to Tv, number two is recording a song that thousands of people have listened to and the third one would be to be signed by the biggest record label.
What type of musician do you strive to be?
I haven’t really found my sound yet, but I’m diverse. I like experimenting on other sounds and everything but for now I haven’t found my sound so I’m just going to tap in all the sounds and see where I fit in.
Whats the best advice you got from the show?
You need to be professional, respect the people you work with and ALWAYS be on time.
What can we exoect from you in 2021?
For now, the priority is pushing uhambe, filming a music video this year for the song would be great. Performing the song, getting gigs. I write a lot do hopefully I’ll be at the studio, doing what I love best!
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I just want to be an African giant for real. When people talk about me I want them to be like yhhh that guy Brandon Dhludhlu! I just want to make a lot of money and inspire people along the way
