“From Lagos to London by way of Accra Mr Eazi shutdown RoundHouse in Camden for his Life is Eazi Culture Festival”
Debuting his Culture Festival in the city that first embraced him, the Life is Eazi Culture was certainly an event to remember. Held at the famous RoundHouse theatre in Camden, London- the concert was packed with Afrobeat enthusiasts waiting eagerly for their favourite artists to hit the stage. And they certainly did not disappoint.
The night started off with a Fashion Show curated by Mariam, which casted all black and African models, while heavy hitter DJ’s such as DJ Juls, Selecta Maestro, South Africa’s DJ Maporisa and BBC Radio One Extra’s DJ Edu set the tone for what was to come with seamless blends of Hip Hop, Afrobeat, Afrotrap and more.
Hosted by the hilarious Eddie Kadi, there was plenty to take in as opening acts such as Kwamz and Flava, Naija Boy & DJ P Montana and Friends started to take the stage. Curated by Mr Eazi himself, the festival also featured a UK dance competition hosted by the dance group Homebros.
Accompanied by a plethora of special guests such as Fuse ODG, Eugy & Grime artist Yungen, the Afrobeat superstar did not disappoint with this performance. With backing from his live band, The Compozers; Mr Eazi gifted the audience with all his hits from ‘Anointing’ ‘Legover’ and the international hit ‘Skintight’. With his shirt off and his face half painted the Nigerian singer brought an amazing energy to his festival, even jumping into the crowd of fans, letting them sing with him.
The night couldn’t end without Mr Eazi giving a shoutout to his father, who was in attendance and letting his ‘haters’ know that he’s on a mission to make Afrobeat as popular and as familiar as other genres dominating contemporary music.
